Holy Mackerel

Well, I've just died and gone to heaven. My photo, Heart of the Sunrise (by John Bescherer), has been published on Alanis Morissette's website.

Do you know what that means?

Do you know what that means?

Well, it's not exactly a love song being written to me by Alanis, but she posted my photo on her website. That means that SHE looked it over. (Yes, I know there were a lot of photos posted but SO WHAT?) It means that someone with an opinion that I respect and cherish, whose thoughts have compelled my attention for years and whose attention I never expected to get, has spent some time considering MY thoughts.

It's not the same thing as validation. It's more of a sense of connectedness to the universe, if you know what I mean.

The "No More Love, Shut The Door, Stay At Home" Blues

The No More Love, Stay At Home, Shut The Door Blues

Went to see my baby,

She don't want me no more.

She left me lying curled up

In a ball down on the floor.

Chorus: I've got the no more love,

             stay at home,

             shut the door blues.

             Love won't find me 'gain

             til I pay my dues.

Well I stayed there alone

Forty days and night.

I said I've got to atone,

To set some things right.

Chorus: I've got the no more love,

             stay at home,

             shut the door blues.

             Love won't find me 'gain

             til I pay my dues.

I walked out the door,

Gave the man his due,

Wore out three pairs of pants,

And 'bout forty shoes.

Chorus: I've got the no more love,

             stay at home,

             shut the door blues.

             Love won't find me 'gain

             til I pay my dues.

Just singin' His praise,

Hallelujah! Amen!

Won't you join with me,

As we sing again?

(New Chorus)

             I've got the

            "Full of His Love",

             For God's sake get going,

             Going to open the door,

             blues.

             Love found me again

             Once I paid my dues.

He lifted me up,

Helped me to my feet.

Now I can walk and talk,

And make my peace with Him.

Chorus: I've got the

            "Full of His Love",

             For God's sake get going,

             Going to open the door,

             blues.

             Love found me again

             Once I paid my dues.

You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

I won a radio contest on Cool 102 this morning for knowing the lyric "I met a clever woman." In case you don't know it, it's from "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" by Bachman Turner Overdrive It's true. You ain't seen nothing yet. I'd keep my eyes open if I were you... ____________________________________________________________________________ I met a clever woman
She took my heart away
She said I had it coming to me
But I wanted it that day

I think that any love is good lovin
‘So I took what I could get mm mm ooh ooh
She looked at me with those big brown eyes
And said

Chorus:
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet b b b baby
You ain’t seen nothing yet
Here’s something that you’re never gonna forget
B b b baby you ain’t seen it you ain’t been around

And now I’m feeling better
`Cos I was coming down for sure
She took me to her Doctor
And he told me I was cured
He said that any love was good love
So I took what I could get
And then she looked at me with those big brown eyes
And said

Chorus

Any love is a good lovin’
So I took what I could get,
I took what I could get
And then she looked at me with that big brown eyes
And said
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet,
Baby, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet,

Towards a Dating Bill of Rights

Since my last breakup, I vowed to change a couple of things about the way I dealt with love.

I'm just not going to run after anyone anymore. I'll show interest, offer companionship and perhaps a little romance, but I'll not go into overdrive unless someone is coming after me too. Therefore, if we go out on a date, I might call afterwards to say thanks and even offer another idea, but I'll leave it up to the woman to call me back if she is interested.

I'm also going to meet people as part of a group. I've been taken advantage of nore than once by a woman. From here on out, I'm not going to front 100% of the expenses of going out. I might go 60/40 but I'm just not going to cover all of the costs of tickets, activities, etc. I'm perfectly happy hiking or going biking. No need to take someone to big concerts for me to gave fun. I can just go by myself and meet people there. When I have done that, I have always had a great time.

So if I were going to put together a  "10 Commandments of Dating" from these things, it would include:

1) You have to like yourself before anyone else will like you

2) A man should not have to pay all the costs of dating.  A woman should offer to cover her share of expenses and perhaps even pay for things herself some of the time.

3) There is no point in running after anyone. If they are interested, they will slow down and let you catch up and will even turn around and come back to you if you fall too far behind.

Crosby Stills Nash Young Me and 20,000 Others

I was fortunate to attend the Crosby Stills Nash & Young concert at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA. The night was full of magic, helped out by a nearly cloudless sky and balmy 78 degree temperature. The show featured Neil Young's new album, Living With War. I had just bought the album the day before and I am convinced that it will be as much of a classic as any that Neil has ever done. In particular, his call to impeach George Bush resonated with the crowd of nearly 20,000 fans, who must have left the concert feeling like they could change the world. Beautiful girls dancing the siren song of love and peace helped to sway the crowd to the cause, along with the magical harmonies of the band. The tickets I had cost me $250 each, a bargain in terms of what this concert will hold for me in the memory vault. I can't share more with you but let me say that this was one night full of peace love and understanding. Sell the truck. Don't pay your rent. Mortgage your house. Make up with your ex. Whatever you have to do but buy tickets to this show. (Nothing illegal of course.)

Met an Angel This Week

Had a fun week in upstate New York and western Massachusetts. Met an angel who was working on a road crew on New York's Route 2. She helped me in so many ways I can't name them all but mostly, she helped me realize that there is so much good to be done on this earth and that it is so easy to do it, there is no excuse for not starting immediately.

All I did was give her a bottle of water. You should have seen her smile. It was like I had given her a diamond ring. I passed by her detail and kept on going and don't you know that the road I took brought me right back in a big circle to her.

We talked a bit and I gave her some more water and other things for her co-workers. On Wednesday it was about 104 out when we talked. She's too busy to go out for a drink with me but I thought that  maybe I could talk with her again some time and I went back each of the next two days with more water, ice tea and beer for her co-workers. Unfortunately,  that's as far as I go.

She said she'd go out with me last night for dinner but I guess she's still messed up about a relationship she has been having.

God bless her. I know that we will talk again soon.

I have a lawyer- Denny Crane!

I now have a good lawyer. He tells me that he can get this all straightened out.  Thank goodness for good lawyers.

Arrested for Love

This morning I am going to be arrested.

The other night I went to visit my kids and my ex-wife's new husband said I couldn't see them and physically interposed himself between the kids and myself. He said if I didn't leave he'd call the police. So I called the police and they came down and gave me a copy of a restraining order that had just been issued (but not served on me). It says I can't see my kids or talk to them or anything and gives custody to my ex-wife.

How is this possible? Massachusetts allows women to go down to the court and say that they are in fear of "imminent serious physical harm". My ex-wife said that I had caused her to be in this fear because of something I did on Tuesday.

She lives in Sandwich Massachusetts. I was in Wilton Connecticut with my parents. How I could have caused this fear is unknown to me because I never saw her at all during the day until I went over to her house and the police came over.

I got a copy of the order but it didn't include the page which says what I am supposed to have done. (That doesn't seem fair to me.)

At any rate, I have decided this is bullshit and I am going to fight it tooth and nail. I sent an email to my kids this morning telling them that I love them and that everything is going to be okay.

Evidently, my ex-wife called the police saying that I had violated the restraining order. I got a call from the police a little while ago saying that I was going to be arrested.

That should be fun but I am not worried because I am not violent, have never been violent, never threatened my ex-wife, etc., etc. The worst thing that I did was call her a Monkey Buttface because she lied to me. I also said that she was "shitforbrains" because she said that when I called my daughter's boss to help her out,  she thought I was trying to get her fired.

Who knew?

Dating is hard

So here I am at the three month point of another relationship and sure enough, my new girlfriend has turned into a monster. I really can't believe it. I'm going to ask for a note from ex-husbands and boyfriends in the future.
