Some say he cost Al Gore the election in 2000, but Ralph Nader says he won't step aside.
Nader took his presidential campaign to Monroe Community College this afternoon. He spoke at MCC for about an hour, charging $10 for admission.
Nader, a lifelong consumer advocate is on the ballot in 34 states and Washington D.C.
He told the crowd vote for President George Bush or Senator John Kerry is a vote for war. Nader said, "In the first debate John Kerry outhawked George Bush. He said he was going be more aggressive on the war and send more troops if necessary."
In 2000, Nader also ran as a third party candidate and some Democrats blame him for Al Gore's loss, but Nader said, "That's politics and the beauty of having equal rights."
Lauren Johnson was the lone picketer outside the event. She accused Nader's campaign of taking funding by Republicans who hope he will take votes away from Kerry. Johnson said, "He is using Republican associated volunteers and taking money."
Nader supporter David Kramer said, "His message is very compelling. Obviously he's correct anything big starts small."
In 2000, Nader ran on the Green Party line, this time he's running as an Independent.
